    Qualifiers Week 2!

Post by nGP|EcstatiC on Sun Mar 06, 2011 10:42 pm

First off I'd like to announce that USA tQ has decided, after winning their match 9:0 that they're too good for this league, and sent me a really long email complaining about a lot of stuff that I didn't really bother to read. Then they copy/pasted it into a forum post, and I still didn't read it. Life goes on.

Secondly, there was some confusion with the rotation of the players during the matches. To solve this, I will be instituting a Home Team/Away Team system, where the Home Team's players stay fixed, and the Away Team's players rotate around them. For Qualifiers, the team that is seeded higher will be the Home Team.

Also, I'd like to restate that the rules are out of date, as they have not been edited since the start of S1. They are like the Pirate's Code in Pirates of the Caribbean in that they are more like guidelines, and real pirates (ie admins) have the final say. They are not like the Pirate's Code in that they apply to more people than just Pirates.

And thirdly, I would like some feedback on the clan war format that we are currently using. Several people have raised concerns about only 3 players per war, and I have noticed that there are very few leagues on the US server that use the KOTH style anymore, so I am considering changing to that. (SGL and SCL are the only 2 leagues right now that use KOTH, and SGL will introduce a new (and imo really bad) format in a couple weeks). So post in this thread your thoughts on either this format of KOTH. Qualifiers will continue using the 3-round format, and any change to KOTH will only come into affect during the regular season.

    Now, onto business.

I've decided that there isn't enough time to hold a sub qualifier to see who gets tQ's spot in the 2nd round, which needs to be filled, and so I quite arbitrarily chose USA DD to fill the spot. They were the highest seeded team to lose, and lost by only a single map. I know there were several other teams that lost 5:4 and deserved at the very least a shot at this spot, but unfortunately there simply isn't enough time to play a runoff tourney between 4 teams. USA DD has impressed me on numerous occasions in multiple leagues, so I stand by this decision.

Here are the results from last week:

    1. USA elevengaming (xi) [9:FF] 24. USA Judicator Aldaris (JA)
    2. USA Team sC (sC) [9:FF] 23. Brazil iMbalanced Team (iMba)
    3. USA Think Quick (tQ) [9:0] 22. USA Proxiteam (prOxi)
    4. USA 1nsanity (iNs) [8:1] 21. USA Flow Gaming (FG)
    5. USA Eternal Plague (eP) [5:4] 20. USA GosuFactory (gF)
    6. USA Nzar's Kingdom ([N]) [5:4] 19. USA Beercrafters (40oz)
    7. USA Team oTL (oTL) vs 18. Can/USA iRA Gaming (iRA)
    8. USA iNtimidation Gaming (iNti) [7:2] 17. USA Fever Team (FEVER)
    9. USA Team Skynet (SkyZ) [9:FF) 16. USA Rage of War (RoW)
    10. USA Double D (DD) [4:5] 15. Australia Terror Australis (TA)
    11. USA Must Be Nice (mBn) [7:2] 14. Mexico xGamers (xGs)
    12. USA OverDosed (OD) [8:1] 13 Canada No Skill (nS)

And so here are the seedings going into the next round:
    1. USA elevengaming (xi)
    2. USA Team sC (sC) / Brazil iMbalanced Team (iMba)
    3. USA 1nsanity (iNs)
    4. USA Eternal Plague (eP
    5. USA Nzar's Kingdom ([N])
    6. USA Team oTL (oTL)
    7. USA iNtimidation Gaming (iNti)
    8. USA Team Skynet (SkyZ)
    9. Australia Terror Australis (TA)
    10. USA Must Be Nice (mBn)
    11. USA OverDosed (OD)
    12. USA Double D (DD)

And so our matches this week will be:

    1. USA elevengaming (xi) [7:2] 12. USA Double D (DD)
    2. USA Team sC (sC) [5:3] 11. USA OverDosed (OD)
    3. USA 1nsanity (iNs) [5:3] 9. 10. USA Must Be Nice (mBn)
    4. USA Eternal Plague (eP) vs 9. Australia Terror Australis (TA)
    5. USA Nzar's Kingdom ([N]) vs 8. USA Team Skynet (SkyZ)
    6. USA Team oTL(oTL) [3:5] 7. USA iNtimidation Gaming (iNti)

    And the maps are:

    Round 1: GSL Tal'Darim Altar
    Round 2: Shattered Temple
    Round 3: Metalopolis

Can't believe I'm saying it, but the format is pretty sick.

If you understand it yes. People where having a hard time understanding it. Had to explain it about 5 times I think and had to remind people about 20 times what map they where playing on. But definitely a format that will give some interesting wars.
One player can't carry the whole team in this format and people get to play different matchups so you don't lose all your games just because you got a bad matchup like in some other formats.

Is there a way you can declare "Home" and "Away" teams so we know the exact matchups on each map instead of just doing a coin flip to decide who's who?

They did...for qualifiers the higher seed was home team. I'm sure they'll make rules for regular season.
